NIU Shooting Casualty List – Always Remember

These are my brothers and sisters. We may have never met in person, but I will always remember you. I always remember what happened. I feel astounding love for those that lost their lives. This can be a sick world and none of you deserved this. The name of the shooter will never be written by my hands and will never pass these lips. He will not be remembered.

Ryanne Mace, age 19, last of Carpentersville, Ill.

Julianna Gehant (pronounced Ghee-hant), age 32, last of Mendota, Ill.

I will be leaving here shortly for the vigil. I am leaving early to join my fellow Huskies in the MLK commons to intercept the wackos that may be coming to soil our grief.

6 Deaths… And Fred Phelps Is Coming

Six people died in the NIU shooting. The 7th was the shooters suicide. This will not stand.

And I am pissed, and I need to find the “people” out there from Westboro Baptist that are glad my peers died. They’re glad. I’ve started a peaceful protest over the phone. After some research I found their phone number and have had many conversations with these people. They’ve redefined insanity. I tried my best to give everyone this phone number to call these people and ask why they are doing this. My friend Evan sat next to me as he called and ask why they’re glad that his hometown friend was shot and killed. The lovely Phelps-Roper lady that kept taking phone calls (~~I believe her to be Shirley Phelps-Roper~~) said that his friend deserved to die.

I just called and told them we were coming to find them, camera and cell phone in hand. I just got their individual cell phone numbers. No violence. Words are much better. They need to see the blood is not on my hands.

Thankyou Dekalb police. Police were on the scene two minutes after the shooting. This is good response, thankyou men and women of the Dekalb police.

2/14/08

5:20 p.m.

Many of the shooting victims have been transported to Kishwaukee Community Hospital in DeKalb.

5:12 p.m.Police are confirming that the shooter is dead by a self-inflicted gunshot.

A press conference will be held in the Altgeld Hall Auditorium at 5:30 p.m.

4:39 p.m.A media staging area is available in the auditorium of Altgeld Hall (castle building on east side of campus).

4:31 p.m.All NIU students are asked to call their parents as soon as possible.

4:24 p.m.Campus police reiterate that an immediate danger has passed. Students should return to their residence halls and stay there. All classes are cancelled and all NIU campuses are closed for tonight and tomorrow (2/15/08).

4:14 p.m.Campus police report that the immediate danger has passed. The gunman is no longer a threat. ~~The DeKalb campus is closed tomorrow.~~ All NIU classes are cancelled and campuses are closed for tonight and tomorrow. Students can go to any residence hall for counseling.

4:10 p.m.Campus police report that the scene is secure. Only essential personnel should remain on campus.

NIU Shooting – No Deaths So Far

I hope this goes down as the school shooting with no deaths. So far only the shooter is dead. Took his own life. I hope he fails. I hope the only casualty is the death he didn’t have the strength to commit himself to in private. Satan exists, and he lives in the heart of man.

Students were helping injured out of Cole. Helping people get to safe shelter. I love this town because of the people. The hospital reported that there were no injuries due to chaos. All the injured people were from gunshots. In a state of panic, people could only thing of their fellow students. God exists, and he lives in the heart of man. It’s great to know that life is important to some people. We must stick together through this. We must be friends and family to everyone. There is evil in this world, but there is also astounding Love.

18 people have just been admitted to the local hospital that were shot, ruthlessly in Cole Hall at Northern Illinois University, only a few buildings away from where I work. My school has just been shot up. This is where I live. This is where I go to school. I cannot believe this, at all. Dear God….
